This is my story...
After spending more than 20 years in journalism, including 19 years reporting and editing for Columbus Business First and the Phoenix Business Journal, I launched Laura Newpoff Journalism Services LLC in early 2018. Writing, editing and research for newspapers and private clients are the primary services of this new venture.
My reporting work covered every facet of the business community, from entrepreneurs looking for seed capital to the region’s biggest institutions and companies, including Ohio State University, Honda of America Mfg., Wendy’s Co. and American Electric Power Company Inc.
Population growth trends, affordable housing, economic development, technology trends, venture capital markets and a persistent housing inventory crisis are part of my portfolio of reporting work about issues that affect the region.
My editing work touched every facet of the newsroom – from daily website posts, to cover and feature stories and all of the paper’s special publications. I’ve produced our Best Places to Work, Healthiest Employers, Fast 50, Corporate Caring and Top 100 Private Companies publications, for example.
I also have years of experience in digital publishing and social media. Results of my work include more than doubling website traffic year-over-year and boosting referrals from social media from single- to double-digit percentages.
My work has been honored by the U.S. Small Business Administration, Arizona Press Club, Press Club of Cleveland, Society of Professional Journalists and the International Association of Business Communicators.
Personally, my partner and I are deeply rooted in the Central Ohio animal rescue community and have spent years helping several groups that work to save vulnerable animals. We have served as a foster home for dozens of dogs and cats and are the proud parents of four rescue dogs, a rescue cat and a foster dog named Maverick.
